At ZEP-RE (PTA Reinsurance Company), we recognize that sustainable growth in Africa’s insurance and reinsurance sector depends on developing the next generation of skilled professionals. The Young Professionals and Student Internship Program is a strategic talent development initiative designed to attract, nurture, and develop emerging talent across the region.
This program provides high-potential students and recent graduates with structured opportunities to gain hands-on experience, develop professional competencies, and contribute meaningfully to the organization’s work. Through mentorship, practical exposure, and engagement with regional operations, participants gain insights into the reinsurance industry while building the skills required to support Africa’s financial resilience and economic development.
The initiative forms part of ZEP-RE’s broader commitment to talent pipeline development, knowledge transfer, and leadership cultivation within the African insurance ecosystem.

Scope of the Program

The Young Professionals and Internship Program provides structured opportunities for students and recent graduates to gain practical experience, develop professional skills, and contribute to the organization’s work. The program is structured into two pathways:

i. Student Internship Program

The Student Internship Program provides short-term (3-6months) experiential learning opportunities for university students and recent graduates seeking exposure to a professional environment. Interns are integrated into relevant teams where they gain practical insights into the organization’s operations, culture, and regional impact while building essential professional skills.

ii. Young Professionals Program (YPP)

The Young Professionals Program (YPP) is a structured early-career development initiative runs for (12-24moths) designed to prepare high-potential graduates for impactful professional careers within the insurance and reinsurance sector. The program aims to build a pipeline of future industry professionals equipped to contribute to organizational growth and the broader development of Africa’s insurance markets.

General Eligibility

Typical applicants for the program may include:
i. Final-year undergraduate or master’s students, or recent graduates
ii. Individuals with academic backgrounds relevant to the organization’s work, such as finance, insurance, agriculture, development studies, data science, policy, human resources, communications, or related fields
iii. Individuals demonstrating strong analytical, problem-solving, and leadership capabilities
iv. Applicants with excellent communication skills in English and French
v. Individuals capable of working effectively in multicultural and diverse environments.
vi. Must be under the age of 28 at the time of application.
