20 May 2021, Nairobi - ZEP-RE (PTA Reinsurance Company), a leading reinsurer has become a signatory to the Principles for Sustainable Insurance (PSI) and joined membership of the global community of banks, insurers, and investors of UN Environment Finance Initiative (UNEP FI).
More than 300 financial institutions work with UN Environment to understand emerging environmental, social and governance issues, why they matter to the finance industry, and how to address them in banking, insurance and investment decision-making and market practice.
Signing the PSI is a concrete example of sustainability leadership and commitment and ZEP-RE is expected to work with UNEP FI to turn the four Principles for Sustainable Insurance into practice, and work towards the strengthening of the insurance industry’s contribution as risk managers, insurers, and investors to economic, social, and environmental sustainability—in other words, sustainable development.
“We are delighted and honoured to become signatories to the UN Principles for Sustainable Insurance. Through this initiative, we shall work together to ensure that our industry will balance social, economic, and environmental sustainability in their company strategies for a better world. ZEP-RE will mobilise its staff, Shareholders, customers and all our partners towards the fulfilment of this promise,” said Hope Murera, ZEP-RE CEO
